About Us

In recent years, California has experienced multiple disasters (wildfires, floods, mudslides, earthquakes, etc.) that have destroyed communities and displaced thousands of people and their companion pets, livestock, and equine. Due to large-scale incidents that continue to impact our state, in 2020, community animal response teams (CARTs) started to collaborate to facilitate mutual-aid during these times of crisis.  This collaborative body was formerly named the California CART Collective (CCC), in 2023, a decision was made to form a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to further expand the mission of helping animals in disasters.  The CCC has now been renamed "Cal CARTs."

Cal CARTs is in the process of submitting final documentation to the IRS for non-profit status.  Updates will be posted to this website as progress is made.
